Lonely Planet's top 10 regions

The Istrian peninsula

We like to compare Istria with Tuscany but tone Tuscany down a notch – thin the tourist hordes, lower the prices, sprinkle a little mystique – and you get Istria.

A small peninsula the shape of heart in the blue of the Adriatic sea. Also a great holiday destination for the gourmet & Wine lovers

A wonderful golfing tour in Istria

Treated Like Royalty

In the beginning of April I visited Istria with a group of 14 Finnish golfers. We were treated like royalty by Pino and his staff stationed in the resort.

Played a round of golf at the King's course Bled, 2 rounds of golf at our resort course Kempinski golf Adriatic and a round at the golf course Trieste.

Europe’s hot spots - Istria

The Adriatic coast

We in Istria like to say that the Istrian Peninsula is the best of Tuscany and Venice rolled into one. Vineyards along the coastal towns lie steps from the beach.

Traveling to Istria during the Istrian truffles season recommended. Tagliatelle with white trufless, an ultimate pasta dish and a real festival to your palate..

Golf wine and truffles

Golf and fine dining in Istria

A golf holiday for the gourmet and wine lovers.

Met the wine producer, Kozlovic Wines, witness the craft of wine making and at the nearby restaurant Stari Podrum we had an excellent meal based on truffles, tagliatelle and a fillet steak with Istrian white truffles.

The Kozlovic Wines.

Golf and wine in Istria

After a round of golf at the club Adriatic we visited the winery Kozlovic Wines, situated in a little village of Momjan and only 20 minutes drive of our hotel Kempinski Adriatic. Learned about wine production and tasted 5 different types of wines.

The white Kozlovic Malvazija highly recommended and the wine is definately the signature white wine of Istria.

Golfing in different countries

The Nearby Golf Courses

While on a golfing holiday in Istria we discovered that golf in Istria can be easily combine with golfing on the nearby golf courses in Italy and Slovenia.

Played different courses in the area, the resort course Adriatic, a round at the golf course Trieste, and a round at golf course Lipica in Slovenia.

Great hotel experience.

So calm & Peaceful

An excellent location for those who seek calm and peaceful environment, stunning views across the bay at the Slovenian and Italian coast and the on-site golf course.

A great hotel experience at Kempinski Adriatic, surrounded by picturesque olive grovers and vineyards.

Golf on untouched nature

Golf & Country club Brijuni

This course is like the blast from the past. Since you are playing in a National Park. The nature around is beautiful, the views are extraordinary.

The Brijuni golf is played dating from 1922, which then aquired the flattering title of one of the most naturally beautiful golf courses of that time.

San Rocco has that effect on you.

Boutique hotel San Rocco

Pino called to check if everything was all right, we told him, we have been here for just an hour, sitting by the pool with drinks in our hands, and feeling like home already.

The hotel has that affect on you. The Best small Family Heritage Hotel in Croatia for last 5 consecutive years

Twin Centre Holidays

Istria and Lake Bled

We booked a twin centre golf holidays, Istria and Lake Bled. Since Bled and Istria were so different type of destinations it almost felt like “two holidays in one”, a nice experience indeed.

Not overly focusing on golf was the right call as there were so many other fun ways to spend a day in both places.
